In these tough economic times, it is becoming harder and harder for students to get into college. Colleges are accepting fewer students and the government is awarding less financial aid.
So, your highschooler needs to do more to get into college. That’s why we offer several college counseling programs geared at getting your child into college and preparing him/her to excel once s/he gets there.
Our goal is to help you put together college applications that highlight your child’s special strengths, abilities, and achievements.
We offer the following:
Application essay counseling
- 2 hour comprehensive review/editing session
- Review & editing of personal statements & college entrance essays
- Editing of rough drafts
- Guidance for new essays
- Critiques on current essays focusing on organization and flow
- Polishing final copies of essays – grammar, style, spelling, word usage
Preliminary Counseling
- 2 hour comprehensive counseling session
- Evaluation of student goals (any time from freshman through senior year)
- Evaluation of current extracurricular activities and recommendations for future extracurricular activities
- Evaluation of current courses and recommendations for future courses
- Suggestions/guidance regarding the college search
PACKAGE A: Freshman through Junior Years
Your student has the best chance of getting into her/his college of choice by working towards this goal throughout his/her high school career. So, this package offers:
- 7 – 10 hour-long consultations (with our counselor, parents, and children)
- 2 monthly phone calls to ensure that everyone’s on-track
- Email access with counselor
- In-depth advice regarding college major and college goals
- ACT & SAT preparations
- Counseling in all parts of the application process: gathering recommendations, college essays, college deadlines, recommended extracurricular activities, college resumes
PACKAGE B: Senior Year
- 5 hour long counseling sessions
- Biweekly phone calls & unlimited email access to counselor
- Customized review of all pieces of (up to 3) application(s)
- Editing/counseling for (up to 3) application essays, making sure that each essay is unique, thorough, and well-organized
- Customized calendar detailing applicable financial aid deadlines, standardized testing deadlines, and college application deadlines
- Review of extracurricular activities
- Customized timeline for completion of (up to 3) college applications, based on applicable deadlines
- Review and interpretation of Student Aid Report
- Guidance regarding applicable financial aid source
